Woolly Privacy Policy

Effective date: 4 August 2026

Woolly is a virtual-pet iOS app operated by Spectrify. This policy explains what information Woolly handles, why it is handled, and the choices you have. In this policy, “Spectrify”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator of Woolly.

Woolly is designed to keep the relationship on your device. We do not sell personal information, use advertising tracking, or put chat transcripts in our own server logs.

1. Information Woolly stores on your device

Woolly stores the relationship you create with your dog on your device, including the dog’s name, appearance, personality, care state, progress, memories, and the in-app conversation transcript. Woolly also creates an exportable copy when you choose “Export my data”.

If iCloud backup is enabled for your version of Woolly, the dog’s state and memories may be stored in Woolly’s private iCloud container so you can restore them on another device. The analytics identifier is not included in that backup. Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy also apply.

2. Information sent to services

When you use Talk, the message you send and the limited conversation context needed to answer it are transmitted to an AI service through Woolly’s service infrastructure. The AI service generates a reply for the fictional dog character. Woolly does not intentionally store chat messages or memory text in its own server logs. AI providers may process requests under their own terms and retention policies; please avoid entering highly sensitive information.

After the 13+ age gate, Woolly may record pseudonymous, coarse usage events such as onboarding steps, sessions, feature use, app version, content version, and broad purchase context. Events do not contain message text, memory content, your name, contacts, email address, or an advertising identifier. During private testing they may remain in an encrypted app sandbox; when the production event service is enabled, the events are uploaded using a random installation identifier.

Apple processes purchases through StoreKit. Woolly receives entitlement and purchase-history information needed to unlock Woolly Club, but never receives your payment-card details.

3. How we use information

4. Who receives information

We may disclose the minimum information needed to the following service providers:

We do not sell personal information and do not use it for targeted advertising or cross-app tracking. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

5. Retention and security

Local dog data remains on your device until you delete the relationship, reset the app, or remove the app. Uploaded analytics are pseudonymous and are retained only for as long as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and improve Woolly, after which they are deleted or aggregated. A cloud backup, when enabled, remains until you delete the relationship or it is replaced by a newer backup. Deletion is best-effort if a device is offline.

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted transport and restricted service access. No electronic system can be guaranteed completely secure.

6. Your choices and rights

Woolly gives you in-app controls to view, correct, export, or delete your memories and relationship. “Delete everything” removes the local relationship, local analytics files, and the Woolly iCloud copy when that feature is enabled. You can also decline notifications and stop using Talk at any time.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data. Contact us to exercise a right or ask a privacy question. We may need to verify your request. Deleting the app does not control information retained independently by Apple or an AI provider; their respective policies apply.

7. Age

Woolly is for people aged 13 and over. Woolly does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

8. International processing

Apple and service providers may process information in countries outside your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Woolly’s features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
